David Kehler passed away peacefully on June 12, 2009 after a brief illness at the Riverview Health Centre. Dave was born in the RM of Hanover on May 27, 1930. In 1952 he moved to Dauphin where he met and married Irene Bawdon and raised their three children. In 1970 the family moved to Winnipeg where he resided until the time of his death. Dave was friendly and outgoing with a great sense of humor, and a knack for telling tall tales.
He liked to have coffee with his friends, new and old, reminiscing about the good old days . Dave had a great memory and could recall events from the past like they had happened yesterday. Retiring in 1977 due to health issues, Dave found he had time and the talent for carving and woodworking. He especially enjoyed creating small-scale replicas of furniture, animals and transport trucks for his grandchildren. He spent many hours in his garage working on various projects and he took great pride in keeping his yard looking its best.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years Irene, daughters Jo-anne Samson (Marc) of Edmonton, AB, Denise Misanchuk (Lorne) of Dauphin, MB, son Tim (Sandy) of Headingley, MB, grandchildren Kyle, Brett Samson, Codey (Miranda Los), Keegan and Hailey Misanchuk. Dave will also be missed by his sister Mary Daniels of Atlanta, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Aron and Elizabeth Kehler, six brothers and three sisters.
When I come to the end of the road I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Miss me, but let me go.
Respecting Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A private family memorial service with interment will be held at a later date. You will be greatly missed. We love you
