Rosemarie Wieler Hiebert (1929-1956)

Rosemarie Wieler Hiebert

Mrs. Rosemarie Hiebert, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Wieler, Steinbach, was born September 9, 1929. The Lord called her to Himself Tuesday, May 15, 1956 at 12:20 in the morning.

Rosemarie has proven that with Jesus we can rest securely even in the greatest storms of life and in the shadow of death.

Rosemarie leaves many precious memories that shall always linger in our minds. She was known as an obedient child in the home with deep spiritual inclinations since very young. At the age of 13, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. At the age of eighteen she was baptized upon confession of faith that her sins were forgiven and was received as member of the Bergthaler Church, Steinbach, where she has faithfully served until the Lord called her home. She had great joy in Christian service and was active in Sunday School, DVBS, and in so many other ways where opportunities were given. She has been to me a faithful helper and a good Christian mother in the home.

We were united in marriage on October 7, 1947 by the Rev. Wm. Heinrichs. The Lord gave to us three darling children – Murray, Beverley Jean and Jerald Wayne. Beverley and Jerald preceded their mother in death. Murray age seven, is the one precious jewel left and also Darline seven month old adopted baby. The breaking of these closely knit ties and leaving me and the two children behind were some of the deepest pains that pierced her heart.

Rosemarie has stood with me faithfully with a spiritual attitude that deepened through the years. She did not complain during her long illness but submitted to Him who knows best and never makes a mistake. “As God wills” was a common expression with her. For seven years she suffered from what is termed (Nephritis) which was the cause of death. She has suffered especially during the last three months. She was first taken to the General Hospital, Winnipeg for ten days and after another six days at home, Rosemarie was taken to the Bethesda Hospital where she was well cared for until the day of her home going. For some time she knew that she would not recover and said that she knew where she was going, but was much concerned about her relatives, and requested that her mother and two sisters might talk to them about the Lord, because she would not be able to anymore. She wanted others to experience that peace and security that was her portion even now while walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Her last request was the reading of Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” The last word that her lips uttered was, “Jesus”. On May 15, 12:20 her Saviour led her by the hand through the valley of the shadow of death, to her eternal place of rest where the roses never fade. “I am going to a city, where the streets with gold are laid, where the tree of life is blooming, and the roses never fade. Here they bloom but for a season, soon their beauty is decay, I am going to a city, where the roses never fade.”

Mrs. Hiebert leaves to mourn her too early departure, me her husband, Murray and Darline, her parents, two sisters, two nephews and two nieces and grandmother. Also many relatives and friends. Five brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Special thanks to Dr. Krueger, nurses, ministers and all who have so faithfully prayed and stood with us during these deep experiences. Rosemarie was very thankful for spiritual help given and also for what Dr. Krueger and the nurses did for her.

“Who shall separate us from the love of God? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

We sorrow, yet with that peace in our hearts that we shall meet again soon never to part again.

  1. What a blessing to have this obituary written for her . I wish I would have remembered her more. I also see that she looks alot like my mother when she was younger.
