Guy Wendell Hogue (1934-2025)

Guy W. Hogue, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025 in Huntsville, Texas. He was a man of faith, a chemist, businessman, author, and artist – a Renaissance man. Born in 1934 on a farm near Lone Wolf, OK. His father was a black smith.

He is survived by his children, Terry, Al, Sandra and their families. Guy is also survived by his brother-in-law Sydney (Helen) Reimer.

He earned a BSC, with majors in physics and organic chemistry, from University of the SW, Nm. After 8 years working in chemical engineering in multiple North America oil fields, Guy switched industries to manage a teetering metal foundry in Vancouver, Canada back to profitability; and later rehabilitated a steel mill in Hawaii. In his 60’s Guy bought and grew his own successful commercial 100+ employee landscaping company in Hawaii. In 1998 he sold out and retired to Huntsville. Guy published an historical novel and a biography, “From Huntsville to Hell”. His popular conservative column ran in the Item paper in the early 2000’s. He was an accomplished portrait artist and landscape watercolorist.

Despite Guy’s many interests, his faith and family were his priority. He was a loving husband to his one-wife Nita of 63 years. He was a devoted father to his two sons and daughter, and Papa to all of his grandchildren.

He invested his time and heart into our lives and others. Jesus was his Lord and inspiration.

Guy was predeceased by his wife Nita Amy Rose Reimer, on May 24, 2015.
