Neil Fehr unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB., at the age of 69.
Neil is survived by his wife Mary Ann; son Brent & wife Erin, their children Sophie, Natalie & Jaxon; son Jason & wife Gerrilyn, their children Jamason & spouse Tessa and their daughter Carys, Hunter and his daughter Paisley, Talon, Vander; son Tim & wife Kara and their children Kailyn and Hannah. Also left to mourn are Neil and Mary Ann’s siblings and their families.
Neil was predeceased by his parents Cornelius R. & Anna Fehr, his parents-in-law Jac P. & Anne Kehler, his brother & sister-in-law John & Heather Fehr, brother-in-law George Kehler and brother-in-law Brian Chambers.
Neil was born on February 25, 1955, to Cornelius R. & Anna Fehr. He was the first son to join the family with two older sisters. Later their family added a brother and two more sisters.
In grade 3, Neil declared that Mary Ann would be his wife one day. On October 12, 1974, this declaration came true. They spent over 50 years being each other’s best friend. They enjoyed road tripping together and spending time with their family.
Neil’s greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time camping, fishing, playing “Pick”, supporting his grandchildren in their activities, family suppers and helping his family with anything that they needed.
Many hours were spent at the rink. Neil started playing hockey at the age 14 and continued up until last year. He also coached his own boys as well as other community teams for many years and has spent many more hours driving and cheering on his grandchildren.
He also brought his coaching skills to the ball diamonds. It all started when his sisters-in-laws were in need of a Softball Coach for the Bothwell Blazerettes. He even made sure they had brand new uniforms for the season. He later coached his boys and their friends.
Neil had worked a few different jobs over the years. Majority of his working life was in automotive. Most recently he spent his time working for Canadian Tire at the parts counter. But the work he most enjoyed was working with his boys. With all this experience it made him the first call when those around him weren’t sure how to fix something. If you needed help with fixing something, Neil would be there to help.
Neil’s motto for his faith was “You can’t just talk the talk, you have to walk the walk”. He was not a man of many words, but his actions spoke loudly about his strong faith in God.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Crossview Church, 345 Loewen Blvd., Steinbach, MB. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed.
