Many Canadians and Americans visit Puerto Vallarta, especially during the winter months. Larry Kehler has been working with the children of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico since 2002. He started with the Refugio Infentile Orphanage, raising money for food and daily essentials. These fund raising efforts helped the Orphanage to build a new and better place for the homeless children to live and call home. Weekly shopping trips to Sam’s Club ensured they were well fed during the winter months. Summer months were more difficult, but they managed to keep them stocked during those months as well. With the help of many tourists, and friends, the institution has been able to sustain itself.
Since moving to Mexico in 2004, he became involved with another organization, Volcanes Community Education Project – educating the children. Because Puerto Vallarta is totally dependent on the tourist industry, children must learn English and have some basic computer skills to escape the poverty so prevalent in the areas surrounding Vallarta. This will help make them employable in the tourist industry.
Larry, who is known by locals only as “Fox”, owns and operates Café Roma Pizzeria Restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. Cafe Roma proudly sponsors the Kid’s Program. Your help is much needed in order to continue this contribution to the future of the children, so generously organized and supported by Fox and Art Fumerton who directed the previous projects. Visit the Café Roma’s Kids Program for the most current info.

Keep up the super work. It has been a long time since our paths crossed. I see many of the same in all of the countries I have worked building nuclear power plants.
Hope to be in Chapala soon visiting friends and looking at a potential retirement home. Will look you up.

Ps I see my old boss made a comment down below
My husband and I spend our free time in Vallarta and have been interested in helping where we can too. I will definitely look Larry up next time we are there.
Although I did not know Larry well, I just saw him a few times. I am very impressed with what this story tells us. I suppose that Henry and Susan’s gifts of interacting with young people must have bubbed on Larry. He found a place where a lot of Canadians spend vacations there, it would be easier to get funding from tourists. We have spent 7 winter vacations in Puerto Vallarta and know the need.
Great work Larry, keep it up!
Thanks
Glen Kehler
