MTS Advanced Inc. has bought the dial-up Internet service business of Steinbach-based ISP CCCO Net.
According to Jeff Rohne, president and chief operating officer of MTS Advanced Inc., CCCO Net’s customers will be able to choose from a larger range of Internet services, at better prices. They’ll have access to services such as international roaming, virtual private networks, and electronic commerce.
“We are delighted that our Internet customers will continue to be served by a Manitoba company,” said CCCO Net president Larry Kehler, who established CCCO Net in Steinbach in 1995 as a division of Computer Consulting Co. CCCO Net plans to concentrate on its Web design business.
In addition to this consolidation, MTS has enhanced its myWinnipeg.com site by introducing: printable e-coupons and “microsites” for local businesses. Advertisers offer electronic coupons which customers print and use towards purchases. Advertisers who do business online can also accept these e-coupons for online orders. The “microsites” enable businesses to place a page of content on the site rather than developing a site of their own. Launched in October 1999 as a destination for Manitobans, myWinnipeg.com offers news and information about Winnipeg and the surrounding area.
MTS Advanced Inc. is the multimedia and directory publishing division of Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. (MTS), a full-service telecommunications company. Its majority-owned subsidiary, Bell Intrigna, offers telecommunications services, including IP-broadband services, to businesses in Alberta and British Columbia.
