Peacefully in her sleep, on Monday, October 21, 1996 at the Morris General Hospital, Marie Reimer, devoted wife of the late Rev. Peter J.B. Reimer passed away at the age of 95.
She was born in Rosenort, Manitoba to Henry W and Elizabeth Brandt. She married Peter J.B. Reimer and became a mother to five children on June 30, 1946.
She was a baptized member of the Rosenort Fellowship Chapel in the Evangelical Mennonite Conference. She had a gift for sewing and needle work, a passion for gardening and a firm belief in thriftiness. The move from independent living to the Rosenort Eventide Home in January 1993 was difficult for her, but she adjusted and felt very much loved and at home there.
She was predeceased by her husband on January 11, 1988; four sisters, four brothers, three sons-in-law and one great-grandson. She is survived by five stepchildren, Al (Joan) Reimer of Winnipeg, Louise Olson of Rosenort, Nita (Guy) Hogue of Honolulu, Hawaii, Syd (Helen) Reimer of Rosenort and Charlotte Wiens of Rosenort; three sisters and one brother, Elizabeth Loewen of Mctavish, Margaret Barkman of Rosenort, Helen (C.P.) Dueck of Steinbach and Nick Brandt of Palm Desert, California. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Marie Reimer will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 25 at the Rosenort Fellowship Chapel, in Rosenort. Viewing will take place on Thursday, October 24 from 7pm to 8pm (with a short service at 7pm) at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg and on Friday, prior to the service.
