They call it Oh So Lovely, and isn’t it just that: this summer, Winnipeg friends Erin Thiessen and Stefanie Hiebert are rolling their button-cute vintage trailer around Manitoba. But this is no mere road-tripping. The trailer is actually a mobile vintage shop, and these ladies are on a mission: to make everything old become new again.

Today, July 1, 2011 Canada celebrates it’s 144th year since Confederation. While Canada Day celebrates the events that occurred on July 1, 1867, when the British North America (BNA) Act created the Canadian federal government, the Kehler Clan can celebrate this day for another reason.

Peter S.T. Kehler passed away peacefully July 24, 2009 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach at the age of 83 years.

Dad will lovingly be remembered by his wife Eva (Toews) and his children Clifford (Bev), Jerry (Brenda), Peter, Darlene (Bill) Hiebert, Darryl (Jackie),  Sherry Pearl (Brad) Kallert, Jeff Funk, 15 grandchildren and their spouses plus two great-grandsons; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

After a lengthy illness and gallant fight, Lila passed away July 26, 2002, surrounded by her loving family. Manitoba’s MTS Acquires ISP

MTS Advanced Inc. has bought the dial-up Internet service business of Steinbach-based ISP CCCO Net.

MTS Advanced Inc. has bought the dial-up Internet service business of Steinbach-based ISP CCCO Net.

According to Jeff Rohne, president and chief operating officer of MTS Advanced Inc., CCCO Net’s customers will be able to choose from a larger range of Internet services, at better prices. They’ll have access to services such as international roaming, virtual private networks, and electronic commerce.

“We are delighted that our Internet customers will continue to be served by a Manitoba company,” said CCCO Net president Larry Kehler, who established CCCO Net in Steinbach in 1995 as a division of Computer Consulting Co. Frieda Kehler, nee Goertz, passed away on July 31, 1999 at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, MB. Frieda was born on February 16, 1909 to Peter and Marie (Unrau) Goertz in McPherson County, Kansas, USA. She was predeceased in death by husband Cornelius S Kehler  on March 27, 1968.

She is survived by her sons: Russell and wife Florence of White Rock, BC, Dennis and wife Yvonne of Belair, MB, Donald of Anchorage, Alaska, and Leland and wife Diane of Columbus, Ohio.  Her daughters: Marlene and husband Bill Aitken of Victoria, BC and Doris and husband Bill Janzen of Omaha, Nebraska. On July 8, 1994, at the Victoria General Hospital, Helen Grunwald of Winnipeg passed away at the age of 74.

She is survived by one son Harold and his wife Patricia of Landmark; daughter-in-law Lena Grunwald of Winnipeg; grandchildren, James, Mike Eileen, Linda and husband Craig, two great-grandchildren; one sister Elizabeth Giesbrecht of Winnipeg and her family. Jason was born on May 10, 1970 to Debbie (nee Dueck) and Ben Giesbrecht at the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. He was educated in Steinbach and graduated in 1988.

Jason was baptized upon confession of his faith on June 28, 1987. The following is his testimony at the time of his application for baptism:

“As many people around here know, I have grown up in a Christian home; so, have not found it hard to follow the Lord. I became a Christian at an early age of eight one day after DVBS. Agatha Kehler, nee Peters passed away July 28, 1989 in Steinbach, MB. Born Agatha Peters, in Reichenbach, MB on April 16, 1907.   On July 27, 1927, she married Rev. Henrich S. Kehler, who predeceased her on June 18, 1983.
